Advantages: Some good tracks

Disadvantages: a bit short

Since the split of NWA Ice Cube has recorded many albums and films. As well as being a successful solo artist and film star, Ice Cube has also assembled a well recognised, Westside Group. The name of this group, “Westside Connection.” Apart from Ice Cube there are two other members, Mack 10 and WC. The album from Westside Connection I purchased was the album “Bow Down” a phrase used in the intro, Bow Down to the Westside. The intro is great it is a guy explaining about a group of well organised, gangsta rappers turned businessmen.

The album itself I believe is too short, it only contains 10 real songs, 1 intro and 2 small inserts. It does however have some really great tunes appearing, including Bow Down, and the super track, The Gangsta, The Killa and the Dope Dealer. These tunes are my favourite and the groups most successful. , The Gangsta, The Killa and the Dope Dealer has really catchy beat and the lyrics are super. The chorus in Bow Down is really cool and backed up by really great verses with fantastic beats. Other great tunes on the album include, “Gangstas make the world go round” and “King of the hill”, which is a track, which is taking the mikey out of cypress hill, which is quite funny. The other tunes on the album are also great and will be listened to a lot.

Apart from the group themselves, there are no other rappers appearing on the album, this is what makes the “Westside Connection” a really good solo group as the album was also recorded at Ice Cubes home. The album is really cool and every track has a good beat. I would definitely recommend it to someone who likes Ice Cube or any other gangsta rap. The downside to this album has to be that you can play it in about an hour, for me the album gets 8/10.
