I first saw Blood Red Shoes at a small gig in Kingston. I'd heard 'ADHD' and 'You Bring Me Down' already and was dying to hear more. I wasn't disappointed. I knew from following the White Stripes that you can make a pretty good sound from a drum kit and guitar, but you have to be pretty damn talented to pull it off, and that they are. One of the best live bands in the UK, the release of the debut BRS album, "box of secrets", was hotly awaited. The album is almost flawless, with songs such as "ADHD" and "Its getting boring by the sea" standing out in a quality track list. Laura-Mary's vocals are, as always, flawless, and complimented perfectly by Simon Amsell's more laid back vocals and drumming skill. Laura-Mary is an incredibly skilled guitarist, and this is clear to everyone in this album - it sounds as if there is more than just the one guitar throughout the album, and the depth she has created with her sole guitar is incredibly ...  Read the complete review

More accessible to a mainstream audience, and still high quality. Abandons most of what made the band so interesting.

Faithful to the studio material. Poor production and no surprises.

Violent and fast-paced death metal. Becomes samey by the second song.

Pop - 2003

More of the same from the Kooks, Some excellent tracks Takes a bit of time to grow, which will put some off. A little too similar to the debut

An excellent album featuring a number of brilliant R&B flavoured pop gems. Not officially released in the UK, you may have to pay a little more to own it on import.

World To Come - Maya Beiser
Beautiful, haunting music for cello; enough to convert me to a Beiser's fan! Not that I can recognise

The Man Comes Around: American IV - Johnny Cash
Wonderful voice and choice of songs Not for people who depress easily

Panic Prevention - Jamie T
Alternative, exciting music A bit 'different' for some

Other Side Of The Mirror - Stevie Nicks
Some great songs, good mix of country inspired rock and electro 90's style of soft rock synth style. Not many; avoid the high prices.

In The Meantime - Christine McVie
The only recent album from the one half of British talent of Fleetwood Mac; calming qualities. Some dated songs, not enough fresh content. Too familiar sometimes.

High Times: Singles 1992-2006 - Jamiroquai
Lots of danceable tracks A little bit repetitive

Greatest Hits - Space
Some good tracks Some great tracks missed off

Bella Donna - Stevie Nicks
Most songs appear timeless, good bargain prices, Some great songs. Not many. Some songs contain airy fairy lyrics.

Batman - Soundtrack
The most powerful Batman score ever composed; an Elfman classic all the way So what if it isn't the most sophisticated score in the world?

A Weekend In The City - Bloc Party
A very good second album, some really well made tracks takes a bit longer to get into than Silent Alarm
