I first saw Blood Red Shoes at a small gig in Kingston. I'd heard 'ADHD' and 'You Bring Me Down' already and was dying to hear more. I wasn't disappointed. I knew from following the White Stripes that you can make a pretty good sound from a drum kit and guitar, but you have to be pretty damn talented to pull it off, and that they are. A kinda British White Stripes in reverse you have one very talented girl on guitar and a guy bashing the hell out a drum kit, that's it. They produce a sound twice as loud and with twice as much energy as a band with four, five, six members. One of the best live bands in the UK, the release of the debut BRS album, "box of secrets", was hotly awaited. The album is almost flawless, with songs such as "ADHD" and "Its getting boring by the sea" standing out in a quality track list. Laura-Mary's vocals are, as always, flawless, and complimented perfectly by Simon Amsell's more laid back vocals and drumming skill. Laura-Mary is an incredibly skilled guitarist, and this is clear to everyone in this album - it sounds as if there is more than just the one guitar throughout the album, and the depth she has created with her sole guitar is incredibly ...
