... the shore! This is a really lovely song, but it is absolutely nothing like the rest of the album. The tone of the CD is really set by the second track, Since U Been Gone. This was my favourite single released from the album, a really strong, rock track that is fantastic to bound around the house to. Behind These Hazel Eyes is less positive and more angry, but it still has the rock vibe that runs through the whole album. Because of You is another of my favourite tracks. What I love about it is that if you judge by...more

Crowned Review Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson: Make A Change & BREAKAWAY (4979 words)
by - written on 08/09/08 (Very useful, 158 readings)
Rating:

Simon Cowell was asked on the most recent series of American Idol who had the best singing talent, America or England. There have so far been 8 series of American Idol and I believe 3 series of X-Factor and a few other shows before that. If you look at the talent that we have apparently produce, Shayne Ward & Leona Lewis, yes they are good singers and the latter did brilliantly but how many of you even remember the last winner's name. However Simon chose America and for a very good reason, there have been 8 series and over 15 people I can think of from the top of my head have released an album and sold well around the world. I'm getting ahead of myself ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review She's broken away from mainstream! (1560 words)
by - written on 01/11/05 (Very useful, 846 readings)
Rating:

Kelly Clarkson first shot to fame as the original American Idol back in September 2002 which then fuelled the craze for England’s own version of Pop Idol and X Factor. At just 20 years old it was a massive accomplishment to fight off every other wannabe in America to become the public’s first choice. Breakaway is her second album having been released in 2004 in America and 2005 over here, her first one “Thankful” was released back in 2003 shortly after she first hit the charts. Kelly Clarkson’s style is a mixture of quirky rock and more fundamental pop, her first album definitely steered towards the latter while her latest album sees her finding her feet more firmly ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson: She Deserves a Break (1258 words)
by - written on 27/07/05 (Very useful, 675 readings)

Having enjoyed her debut album, “Thankful”, I was at a loss to understand why Kelly Clarkson wasn’t a success in the UK. After all, she had a sound not dissimilar to early Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, who were both big stars. Even more than this, she won the first series of “American Idol” which, given how well acts like Girls Aloud have done, should have been a guarantee of decent sales. She even had a song on the “Love Actually” soundtrack, which didn’t seem to improve sales the way it often does. Sadly, thanks to the lack of interest, I have had to wait for nearly eight months for this album. It was originally released in the US in December 2004, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Solid second album for the US Idol starlet (587 words)
by - written on 18/07/09 (Very useful, 36 readings)
Rating:

Kelly Clarkson has enjoyed success over the past couple of years since she launched herself into our musical lives on American Idol. Breakaway, her second album, features a number of singles as well as album fillers, and is a solid start to a promising career, attempting to break free from the shackles of Idol. It's not perfect, and there isn't a great deal of variation to it, but each song is easy to listen to. The album starts off with a number of the singles, instantly recognisable to followers of the charts a few years ago. Breakaway has a clever combination of soothing and relaxing chords, with the heavier Since You've Been Gone following on suit. It's ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson: * Break Away and Listen To This! * (623 words)

It was in the Summer of 2005 that I first heard the song 'Since You've Been Gone' and it was immediately that I fell in love with it! This was the first time I had heard of Kelly Clarkson , and I decided there and then that I would have to get this album. So there and then I ordered ' Breakaway' , Kelly's latest album at the time, from Play.com for a price of £8.99. * Kelly Clarkson * Kelly Brianne Clarkson was born on April 24th 1982 in Texas. In 2002 , Kelly auditioned for American Idol ( the American version of Britain's Pop Idol). Kelly won the 2002 American Idol , and since that moment she has been a huge success. Her singles to date have included : ...  Read the complete review

Pop Rock - 2005

Chilled out, familiar, still got that magic, more mature vocals make songs emotionally stronger. Not really any new material but it does give you something new in sound and feel.

Live, Fun, Great Listening (advice - play LOUD) Doesn't feature Polcie classics and not one to relax to or for when you have a headache.

Great songs from three decades on two CDs, Timeless classics, Fabulous lyrics Not enough room for everything!

Calming, beautiful voice. Maybe a little boring for some.

The Mix-up - Beastie Boys
Could be used as background music. No musical ability whatsoever is displayed here, the album is despicably tedious.

The Mechanical Hand - Horse The Band
Some strong keyboard sounds at times created here, the lyrics are pretty good. The album is poorly structured, the music created here often sounds a mess.

Take No Prisoners - Motorhead
Heavy Metal - 1997

Skeletons - Wednesday 13
An excellent album full of high quality horror punk tracks. I do believe this album is truly flawless

Skjend Hans Lik - Carpathian Forest
Remastered demo is a nice present to the fans. Bulked out by worthlessly inferior material.

Searching For The Hows And Whys - Get Cape Wear Cape Fly
sounds the same as last album but with a more upbeat tracks may not be to every ones taste tacks renmed off of b-sides

Ribbed Music For The Numb Generation - Soho Dolls
Album contains a number of excellent highly sexed dirty electro anthems. It's not perfect, there is most certainly room for improvement.

R Borlax - Horse The Band
The music is great fun to listen to, excellent use of lyrics is made here. If you don't like hardcore shouted vocals then you won't like this.

Dial-a-song: 20 Years Of They Might Be Giants - They Might Be Giants
Generally excellent music, lovingly packaged Some key tracks missing
