Advantages: Amazing Vocals, Great lyrics

Disadvantages: n/a

When Kelly Clarkson first hit our radios and televisions, it was as the winner of American Idol. That alone suggested she would be a one hit wonder, or a singer of nothing other than chessy pop songs. And while i personally love those kinds of songs, in todays music industry they don't have a lot of credibility. But with this second album, Clarkson has totally turned opinions around.

This album is filled with amazing vocals, meaningful lyrics and real substance. She has gone from pure pop to a mixture of everything. There are edgy indie style songs. A bit of rock chick, and some beautiful ballads. All of this combined gives us a fantastic album of great music.

But some songs really stand out.

First is 'Since U Been Gone'

- Her first real hit in the UK. This song is edgy with a great beat. A great meaning behind the lyrics. She's lost the person she loves, but she knows she's better off that way.

The song itself calls out to lots of women, and men alike i'm sure.

It's a song we can all sing along to, jump around in our rooms and enjoy.

second, 'Behind these Hazel Eyes'

- People have said this song gives off an Avril Lavigne vibe. I don't see it. To me, this song is just pure perfection. It's another strong message. And so many people can relate. A theme i think is recurring in the songs on this album. There's something everyone can relate to.

We can compare all we like, but i'd like to hear Avril Lavigne pull off vocals like Kelly has in this song. It's powerful. And deeply touching in a lot of ways. It makes you want to dance, sing along, and cry all in one.

Next up is 'Because of You'

- Kelly's newest UK single. And possibly the best and most powerful track on the album.

The track tells of how hard it is to open up and trust the person she loves. How she's always playing it safe, too afraod to take chances. And it's amazing because it can really be translated into so many different situations.

The lyrics are beautiful. With lines such as 'I'm ashamed of my life, because it's empty', ' I find it hard to trust no only me, but everyone around me, because of you i am afraid' and 'My heart can't possibly break, when it wasn't even whole to start with.'

These lines go straight for your heart. And that's only a few of them. There are similarly amazing lines throughout the song. And you really have to hear the song to understand how beautiful and intense it really is.

and finally, 'Beautiful Disaster'

- This is a live version of the song which is great in itself. But it's the vocals that stand out. It proves that this girl really CAN sing. She excels in this song.

It's a simple ballad, with touching lyrics. It's hard to describe just how wonderful this song really is, but i can say that it is by far my favourite track on the whole album. I can listen to it over and over.

Every lyric is amazing in its own right. And you can't choose just one line to reperesent the song, because all of the lyrics together is what makes this song what it is.

This album has proven that Kelly Clarkson can belt out a ballad with the best of them, but also that she can make us wanna jump around, sing along and be strong. The variation in the songs, the meanings in the songs themselves. They give the whole package and if there's one album to ask for in your christmas stocking this year, Kelly Clarkson's 'Breakaway' is it.

Of 14 tracks , 14 are amazing. And a few could even be called phenomenal.

Summary: An album to make you smile, cry and dance around
