Advantages: The music, The lyrics, and Kelly's voice

Disadvantages: I can't think of one

I've not heard Kelly Clarkson's first album, but i bought the second, and it's defenitely worth buying! I bought this album whilst on holiday with my stepsister for around £13.99. I'd heard her single "Since you've been gone" on the music channels a lot of times, and i couldn't stop singing it since. Looking her up on the internet after hearing it, i watched the video to the single, "Breakaway" that was released in the US, but not over here. A while after that, i also saw the video to the next single "Behind these hazel eyes" which i thought was amazing, and that was when i knew i wanted to buy her album. Of course, being on holiday, there was no CD players, so i had to wait until i got home to listen to it. Here's the tracklisting and my personal opinion on each song:

1. Breakaway -
As the soundtrack from 'The Princess Diaries' movie, i have to say, it's really good for a soundtrack. Most soundtracks are a little bit more to do with the storyline of the movie that it's featured in, so they mostly come across cheesy, but this is not cheesy in my opinion. A song about a Girl wanting to get out in the world, and be free, but without forgetting the place she comes from. A Really positive message.

2. Since you've been gone -
As one of the releases from the album, this is sure to get you singing and dancing along. A good song to listen to when you're feeling angry, well written lyrics.

3. Behind these Hazel eyes -
In my opinion, this song's just amazing, and even though it's constantly on radio and TV play, it never gets old. Kelly talks about her bad Luck with a guy, and how she wont let him see the pain he's caused her, and how she'll be strong about it all. Again, another strong message.

4. Because of you -
In my opinion, definetly one of my favourites from the whole album. This is the first ballad we hear on the album, and it definetly sets a good example for the rest of them. She tells a story of how she was so upset over a particular person, and how they were so obsessed over themselves. She says how she's now up in the middle of the night for the same reason as he was. Beautiful vocals.

5. Gone -
This is a track with really good lyrics in my opinion. She sings about how she was forced to walk away from a boyfriend, as he treated her wrongly. She tells him how she isn't taking him back. Good music in the background, a good up-tempo track.

6. Addicted -
Another personal favourite of mine. The lyrics definetly stick into your head, and you'll find the whole song in your head, hours after you've listened to it. It starts off slowly, but once it gets to the chorus, you hear a lot more beats, and the song takes off.

7. Where is your heart -
Not one of my preferences from the album. I think many people will like the song, but in my personal opnion, it's the worst from the album. It's a little bland, and contains a lot of things from some of the other songs. Out of the whole song, the chorus is the best, but again - not a favourite.

8. Walk away -
This song will get you dancing. A lot of cool beats in it, and the lyrics are fun, more than anything. She tells a guy to walk away from the relationship, as it's not working out.

9. You found me -
This song is also one i don't really listen to. Just like, "Where is your heart" It's an okay song, and i wouldnt say it's bad, but it wouldn't be one i'd listen to out of all the tracks. I think some people will like it a lot though.

10. I hate myself for losing you -
When i first purchased this album, this was one i kind of ignored, but now i've listened to it properly, i really enjoy it. The beginning music, and the first verse is definetly the best part from the whole song.

11. Hear me -
This song reminds me a lot of "Addicted" it has very meaningful lyrics, and Kelly sings the song really well. Although, i have to say, i prefer "Hear me" better. Another one, that starts off like a ballad, very slow, but as the song progresses, it gets more up-tempo and the chorus is definetly the best part.

12. Beautiful Disaster (live) -
This is a live track that has been recorded onto CD, which i find very unusual and different. Not many artists put a live track onto their album. One to listen to for kelly's vocals. I think it's to advertise her voice live, to make people want to buy tickets to see her live. And, maybe it is to get more publicity, but it works!

13. Miss independant -
Kelly Clarkson's first ever single, that's put onto the album for a bonus track. I loved this song before i heard it on the album, so i cant really comment but i think if people hadn't heard the song before-hand, they'd definetly be intriged.

14. Low -
I never liked the song when it was released, for the pure reason that it was hardly played, and i didn't like the video very much. But, as i listened to the track on 'Breakaway' i changed my opnion completly. It's a nice song, that she sings well as usual.

Summary: Kelly really shines throughout this album, a must have!
