Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway

I bought this album a few years ago after watching American Idol and being impressed with Kelly herself.

The album is a pop/ rock album and it's similar to other albums by female artists. However, Kelly manages to add a personal touch to the album with stories about her
childhood and failed relationships. As far as I know Kelly co-wrote some of the songs on the album and she's done a good job. A few of the songs were already familiar
to me as I had heard them on music channels, especially Since U Been Gone which got a lot of airplay around the time of it's release. This is a very angry sounding
song full of angst and emotion. It's about a failed relationship and Kelly singing about how much better she feels now they have gone. It's a great pop/ rock song that
I love listening to and it still sounds fresh and funky years on. Behind These Hazel Eyes sounds quite similar to Since U Been Gone as it follows the same theme. I do
like the song though and Kelly adds a personal touch to the song. She really does sing it like she means it, which is always a good thing for an artist to do.

I also love Breakaway which is another fresh sounding pop song that sounds bright and breezy and Kelly's vocals are gorgeous on this. The song is very inspiring and
uplifting and it always cheers me up when I hear it.

The album contains a mixture of both upbeat songs and slower songs which are the ballads. The ballads are just as good as the upbeat numbers but the ballad that stands
out to me the most HAS to be Because Of You. The song is quite sad but it's nice to listen to and this is the song that makes you wanna stand up and say "This girl
CAN sing", this is the reason why she won American Idol!

Overall this is a very impressive album. If you like artists such as Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch I think you will like this too.
