Mission Impossible 2 - Soundtrack
by machar - written on 01/08/00 (Very useful, 51 readings)
Rating:
Amos - its a soundtrack of extremes. One thing its does get over however, is the energy and action of the film and also the quieter moments. The Artists featured include Metallica, Butthole Surfers (who have changed their style since I last heard them!), Foo Fighters and Godsmack to name but a few. I've never been a great fan of soundtracks as the music normally varies from stuff I love to stuff I wouldn't listen to no matter how much you paid me. However, this album has mainly my type of music on it - loud, heavy, energetic and alternative. There are a few quieter tracks which help to slow the album down and to gather itself together. My favourite is the ...

Grease 2
by FreeGarlicBread - written on 14/10/08 (Very useful, 29 readings)
Rating:
Trying to live up to the mega-selling Grease soundtrack was just as hard as the film trying to live up to its predecessor, Neither really succeeded, but that doesn't mean that this collection is a complete write-off. Far from it, there are many classics on here, often classic for all the wrong reasons, but a ton of fun all the same. Maxwell Caulfield can't sing or act (at least, not in this film) so his solo number 'Charades' sounds like karaoke. His contributions to all the group efforts are a bit pants as well so let's swiftly move on to Michelle Pfeiffer. If any readers have seen 'The Fabulous Baker Boys' they will know that Pfeiffer can actually sing. Here her voice is less ...

Grease 2

Rating:
The movie Grease 2 wasn’t as good as Grease, and the soundtrack for Grease 2 isn’t as good either! It’s also a lot shorter. This album has only half the amount of songs that the Grease album has – 12. They’re also very varied. Most are great – really catchy and genuinely good songs. Others are so boring it’s almost unbelievable! The first song is “Back to School Again”, performed by the Four Tops. I like this song, it’s pretty catchy. I won’t be able to stop myself singing it when I have to go back to school, though, and I’ll drive everybody mad, so that’s not so good! The next is “Cool ...

The Sky's Gone Out - Bauhaus
Builds on the style of the debut, and indulges in successful experiments.
Some songs are a little weak, or rely too much on volume gimmicks, and lack structure.
Some Fantastic Place - Squeeze
New Wave & Post-punk - 1993
Ridiculous - Squeeze
New Wave & Post-punk - 1997
Press The Eject And Give Me The Tape - Bauhaus
A slightly different take on some songs.
A bit cheeky to sell it as an independent album, considering it was originally a bonus LP.
Mask - Bauhaus
Kick-started the gothic rock movement (if you consider that a good thing).
Repetitive and less original than the previous album.
Greatest Hits - Squeeze
All the hits, great value
Doesn't include the band's highly regarded 1990s work
Frank: Expanded Reissue - Squeeze
A musical lesson in the history of british guitar pop.Musically&lyrically cool&catchy.Retro appeal.
Not their best album, but definitely doesnt deserve to have flopped as much as it did.
Burning From The Inside - Bauhaus
Some more material that may never have happened.
A disappointing swan song.
Big Squeeze: The Very Best Of Squeeze - Squeeze
New Wave & Post-punk - 2002
5 Live - Squeeze
New Wave & Post-punk - 2007
