An exceptional debut album of metalcore from Beecher.

This was Beecher's first release after parting ways with UK label In At The Deep End Records and was released through Calculated Risk Records. The Calculated Risk record label was actually formed by a man named Martin Ives in order to give this 'Breaking the Fourth Wall' album its release. Martin Ives saw great potential in Beecher's music and therefore decided that his first Calculated Risk project would be Beecher's debut album 'Breaking The Fourth Wall'. So Calculated Risk Records was formed and 'Breaking The Fourth Wall' was released in the year 2003.

'Breaking The Fourth Wall' was Beecher's very first studio album, a second was released before the band split up in January 2006 but 'Breaking The Fourth Wall' was I feel the best album that the band ever released. Beecher was active as a band between the years of 2001 and 2006, the band played a metalcore style of sound and although this album was released through Calculated Risk Records originally; it was eventually re-released through Earache Records in 2005. Every track on this album is absolutely excellent, the bands vocals come screeching through at all stages and the guitar work also is brilliant here.

Not a single track on this 'Breaking The Fourth Wall' album disappoints, from start to finish the album is absolutely excellent and always the metalcore music of Beecher is greatly impressive. There are eleven tracks present on this release; 'Mercury Switch' and 'Cabin Boy Jumped Ship' are I feel the best of the bunch and the tracks with which the metalcore sound of the band shines through strongest. The vocal approach taken is what makes this album so strong, the performance is so powerful and this therefore provides for an absolutely fantastic overall listening experience. The vocals are for the most past passionately screamed, this is something that works well for Beecher and always the bands vocalist shows himself to be truly talented here. Instrumentally also the music has much to offer; every element of the bands sound is exceptional here and with every track the music bursts into life and leaves a long lasting impression.

The Beecher sound was always incredibly raw and hard hitting, 'Breaking The Fourth Wall' was an exquisitely fine debut release from the band and with the second the band failed to better the music I feel. For those that like their metalcore then 'Breaking The Fourth Wall' is an album that is well worth checking out, it's a fantastic album from what was an incredible UK band. It was a sad day when Beecher played its last show in February 2006; the bands music still lives on in the two albums that were released however and an exceptional EP of the bands music also exists in the form of the 'Resention Is a Big Word in a Small Town' EP which was released through In At The Deep End Records back in 2002. The band may be gone but I'd definitely still recommend listening to the music, particularly if you're a metalcore fan as you're sure to be impressed with what you hear here.
