Having absolutely loved the film, I saw no harm in buying the soundtrack for Bridget Jones’ diary. I had an Amazon voucher, and nothing to spend it on; therefore it seemed like the best solution! It certainly was! I’m a big, big fan of soul, and Aretha Franklin is certainly an all time favourite of mine. Her originality is fantastic, and her voice is absolutely outstanding. So, when I heard she was on the cd I HAD to buy it! When you’re watching a film, you never really listen to the soundtrack. After knowing what the songs are on Bridget Jones now, I look out for them every time I see it, but otherwise you never realise what’s ... Read the complete review

I have reviewed the film, so it follows that I review the soundtrack that I briefly touched upon. Before I saw the film, i thought that soundtrack would be full of chart songs from the early to mid 90's which would define a period in Bridget's life. As usual I was wrong, and I am pleased to say that I will be reviewing a good mix of tracks which suited the film perfectly. My second compilation review in as many days, this is becoming a habit that I better sort out, because I am actually starting to enjoy them, and there is another Bridget Jones compilation which was released after this which is dying to be critiqued. Want some slush? Then the opener on ... Read the complete review

Friday 29th June 2001 Bought Bridget Jones soundtrack from Sainsbury's - only £9.99. Have listened to it five times since then, and not thought of food once. v.v.g Top artists included - 19 (including 1x snoggable, 1x v. thin and many singing type gods and goddesses) Total length of album - 70mins 51secs Songs which completely identify with - 3 Songs which remind me never to become a smug married - 2 ********** Well, enough of the "Jones-speak", what do I think of the album I hear you cry. It's very good. Simple as that. There's only really one song that I think doesn't work, ... Read the complete review

Bridget Jones - a sensation to sweep our nation. No longer do we have articles saying something was very good, the hip and trendies have to say "v. good" in Bridget Jones Language. I’ve even caught some people trying to indocrinate me with it by sending me text messages full of v.v. goods. Even looking at the other headings of people who have wrote opinions in this category, I can see at least 3 v.goods. I promise this op will be a v.good free zone. Personally, I have to say, I hated to book with a passion, I hated everything that she went on about - having spent so many years trying to get my friends to stop moaning about their weight, this ... One of the most impressive things about the comic masterpiece that is Bridget Jones's Diary, for me, is the great soundtrack. Often, film's soundtracks can be unnoticeable or completely ill fitting to the scene. Bridget Jones's one was neither of these, and is a very good compilation album, featuring old favourites, new ones and combinations of both - re-workings of classics. Within the film itself, each song fitted admirably with the scene it accompanied, complimenting the emotions on display extremely well. Practically the first song to hit you upon seeing the movie is the old weepie 'All By Myself', sung by an unknown voice to me - Jamie ... Read the complete review
