Advantages: A brillant sunnyday record
Disadvantages: A brillant sunnyday record
This is not an album for those dark and dreary winter days,or for those all important social events we call parties(we'll leave those to Mr Slim),this is an album for relaxing in the sun with. It's an album that sounds better when your lieing down, half clad, and happy with life. I've tried going from Gomez to Radiohead and it doesn't work,it's akin to going to a funeral from your wedding(assuming of course you love her,and you're not just there because she has some very persuasive brothers.....).You have to be in a good mood to listen to it,it's just that type of album. Whippin' Piccadiiy and Get Myself Arrested are the standout tracks, songs about being young and about being guys. Both were very radio friendly and recieved a lot of airplay.Make no Sound,Tijuana Lady and Rie's Wagon are the best of the rest.Overall it's a good album with a lot of catchy songs, nothing that anyone could find offensive. And that's it.At times it can feel a bit under produced, and with not enough backbone to be a great album.

- 09/06/01 I really HATE Gomez, the smelly studenty types (note to self: I am a student).
On you're profile page the title of this review reads:
"Gomez are better than a wa...". Me thought of a four letter word ending in K. |

- 31/05/01 Hmmm.. perhaps a little more about the songs and less about the feeling it gives you Mark! Bit longer 2. |
