      A bit of everything

Britannia High was one of my favourite shows to watch when it was on earlier this year. Partly because of the songs in it. They were all so catchy and makes you want to get up and dance, even the slow ones because you feel the need to try and copy the dance moves they perform in the show. The singing is very high standard for actors who hadn't done much singing in a TV production before. If you watched the TV series 'Skins', you will reconise Mitch Hewer who played the part of Danny in Britannia High and now has proved that he is a triple threat, by showing he can sing, dance and act. With a team of excellent song writers including Gary Barlow and Mark Owen from Take That and James Bourne from the band Busted, this album cannot be missed and £6.97 from Amazon is even more the excuse to buy it. Definatly recommended to anyone who loves to sing and dance!

The soundtrack to acompany a great dance television series.

This soundtrack is partly what made this series a success; without a good tune, a musical TV series can't get far.

Written by Gary Barlow, most of these tracks aren't your one hit wonders, and you'll find yourself listening to them time after time. Maybe not the album you'll play continually for weeks and weeks, as it can get quite repetitive, though give it a few weeks and you'll be back for more.

Made up of young musical talents; the vocals on each track are well polished and have depth. Mr Barlow wanted tracks that would stand the test of time, and I think if the series can make a big enough name for itself then the music will also.

      The tracks...

My favourite on the album must be "Start Of Something"; it's the theme tune to the series and the most lively and energetic song. Something that will have your toes tapping as you want to just get up and dance. It focuses on one of the characters need to start out on their musical talent career and it's a real inspirational track. The vocals are by all the cast which adds variety and a zippy flavour.

Secondly, I love "So High", it's deep beat at the beginning is a brilliant start, so simple but very effective, then as the vocals come in and more musical beats are added you are drawn into the song. A good chorus drives the song higher and higher, no pun intended, which mixed with good synthesised beats makes this song brilliant. The song is about the students making it big in the music industry, getting auditions and achieving their dreams, a good track to brighten your mood and get you motivated.

Finally another favourite of mine is "Do It All Over Again" by one of the very talented female actors. This one takes a step back from the musical side, and is about relationships and love, a heartbreak that occurs in the series. However rather than being depressing, it focuses on what's good and how to move on, realising that it was great while it lasted; again very inspirational. The musical elements are simple and almost dreamy, with quieter beats. The lyrics are very catchy, it's the song I find myself most singing and it can be listened to over and over again! I love the climatic part of the song, showing off this young girls talents, just brilliant!

One for the children, and maybe the adults who love a good bit of musical music! As I listen to it now, I find myself jigging away and getting all happy... get listening to "Picking Up The Pieces"!
