      Highly Recommended for Brum fans

Brum The Album is such a great little idea for youngsters who are just starting to take an interest in music. It goes that tiny bit further than standard nursery rhyme CDs do, in that it appeals to a child of around four to seven years old who is making that transistion between 'baa baa black sheep' and 'the black eyed peas'. It's priced at a very reasonable £4.98 on Amazon and Play.com, and I got it in store at HMV for just £4 which I thought was good value.

The front cover is eye catching, simple and with Brum written in an easy-to-read style so that even children as young as three or four years old will be able to learn what the writing says. They'll know they've picked up the right album when they see the colourful picture of Brum on the cover anyway though of course.

With Brum being a popular television car star, you might have guessed that all of the songs on this album are car themed. Talk about little boy heaven! Tracks include things like 'Brum, Brum gets things done' (the TV series theme tune), 'Beep Beep' and 'One More Mile To Go'. There are a couple of songs with titles that sound a little less car-orientated, but the contents is every bit as motorish as the above mentioned ones are.

The songs are all sung in nursery rhyme fashion, but with a slightly pop sound to them. They're very well suited to younger children and don't have any remotely controversial lyrics or sounds anywhere in them. They're very simply composed and sung by reasonable singers, so you can expect something along the lines of 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' really, but with a slight pop edge to it.

The grandson loves this album and enjoys singing along with the songs he knows. Of course his favourite is 'Brum Brum Gets Things Done' as that's the song he already knows from watching the TV series. He gives the others a fair play as well though, and really likes that he has his very own CD album to put in the player, just like his Mum does.
