There has, in recent months, been somewhat of a resurgence in the popularity of rock music. At one point, previously consigned to the ghastly memories of Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Status Quo, Guns & Roses and Aerosmith all basically acting twenty years younger than they actually were (with the obligatory "mullet" hairstyle, leather jacket and jeans), it did indeed seem that the focus had fallen on dance music to be the genre to take us into the 21st Century. Indeed, the Summer months of both 1999 and 2000 saw a questionable, bizarre hybrid of commercial dance fall upon our charts, armed with its plinky, repetitive beats and easily-influenced teens as back-up. ... Buddah by Blink 182 was first released in 1993 and was one of the only albums released when the band name was just Blink as apposed to Blink 182. I bought the album for £12 from Virign and you can now get it for £10.50 from Amazon. It really is a very good album and I really love the genre and the style of music. The album contains 15 tracks and they are all very short with many being only 2 minutes but they really are very catchy and contain the most amazing melodies. The fast tempo really is very exciting and I find it so fun to listen to especially to cheer you up and it is excellent party music or to play with your friends. My favourite track is ... Buddha was the album that followed dude ranch which was released in 1997. This album had quite a lot to live up to as dude ranch was quite a success selling over a million copies. They also only had a year to work on this next full album as it was released in 1998 just a year after dude ranch was released so no one was quite sure if it would live up to the expectations or not. "what has come to be known as the 'Buddha Record' was actually a limited cassette only release of our earlest studio recordings with no title, just a picture of Buddha on it. After a long rest on the shelf at Tom's house the good people at Kung Fu have agreed to unleash these 24* track 'cries for help' from the vault. They've been digitally remixed and remastered to create a sound that is better than the way they used to sound. Please enjoy this whimsical journey back to our humble beginnings recorded at double time sudios in San Diego California over three nights <with a very sick Mark Hoppus> in 1995, just six months after the bnad ... Following their recent reform, I decided to go through my Blink 182 albums and give them a listen (and a review) in anticipation of (hopefully) an upcoming new record. And what I got was high levels of nostalgia of my early teen years and this was reflected none more so than in Buddha. Buddha, an amalgamation of the band's earliest recordings, has been converted from cassette tape to CD, each song digitally remixed and remastered. The songs themselves are a far cry from Blink's later more commercial sound, featured in Enema of the State and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket but nonetheless produce more than adequate listening. Although the sound quality is not ... Read the complete review
