Being slightly obsessed with Buffy, I brought the CD on the day it came out which was quite a while ago now and I still listen to it today. The last time was actually only 3 days ago and I was in my car singing at the top of my voice to every single song as they are all fantastic. Here I will tell you why you don't necessarily have to like Buffy the show to love this album.
So the Buffy album contains 17 songs from the show and they all come from the first few seasons so if you do watch the show you will be able to recognise every song on the album. It goes on for over an hour if you listen to it all at once and is fantastic value for only about £4 at the moment. The album has the picture of Buffy and Angel on the front so is easily recognisable and this was the first album they released from the show.
Music wise and the Buffy album has a good mix of slow, fast, eclectic, pop and quite indie songs and is exactly what you would expect from the show. It is a great compilation album as every song is different so you don't get bored at all and there is something for everybody. All of the songs are very enjoyable and will stay in your head for a long time.
I will now go through a pick of the different songs you can expect to hear.
Buffy the Vampire Theme Tune is one of the instrumental tracks on this album and is a fantastic bass track. The other instrumental is called close your eyes and this is the Buffy and Angel love theme and is a beautiful piece of music. Both of these are instantly recognisable from the show so you should enjoy them.
Ok so lets go onto the pop sounding songs of which there are a few. I Quit by Hepburn is one that I would have thought most people will know anyway is fun and funky and is the one that all the words come easily to me. Teenage FBI is another quite quick song but sounds like it would be straight in the charts now.
Slow songs include wild horses which I love and is from the episode the Prom. It is so slow and a gorgeous piece of music which is very memorable. Then Chainstrong and Temptation waits are just lovely.
Fast songs include my favourite which is Pain because it is funny, the words make a lot of sense which i love in songs and it just has a loveable feel to it and something you can really dance to. Then you also have Already met you which is quite fast and Transylvanian Concubine which is fast singing, in fact so fast you can hardly hear what she is singing some times.
Singers on this album I cannot mention many because I have never heard a lot of them. People like K's Choice and Biff Naked are here and I think this album and appearing on Buffy has helped a few bands. They are all great though and there are no bad ones as everybody has got strong voices and sing like they mean it.
In conclusion this album is brilliant and I would say for £4 it is really worth a listen. It really captures the essence of the show which is lovely and is a fantastic album for any collection in my opinion so get it.
Thanks for reading.
