Don Henley is, of course, better known to many of us as the front man and the voice behind The Eagles. After a ‘Long Run’ of Country rock hits throughout the seventies, the need to spread their individual wings by 1980 had become to great for most of the band. Henley was the most successful of the bunch although a fleeting brush with the law came his way before he could actually get any solo efforts of the ground. This album has a start like no other, Boys of Summer, a track that is so much more than a 80s classic. One of the best driving songs and a Gleaming song from start to finish. So where did the rest of this album go wrong? Boys of Summer is in a league of its own but the rest of Building a Perfect Beast is pretty much dross.
