I was a child of the eighties and back then it was impossible to turn on a radio without hearing Phil Collins singing something or other, either as a solo artist or with his band Genesis. Consequently, I had become a big Genesis fan when this solo album by Collins, 'But Seriously' was released in 1989. Whilst I enjoyed most of Collin's solo work until then I was a little more lukewarm about the three albums he'd produced so far, finding them a little too pop happy for my liking. Several of the tracks on 'But Seriously' were already familiar to me when I purchased the album, as they had been given hours of radio airplay and had become much loved by fans and ... You have to admire this lovely man, he was the driving force behind Genesis and his solo career has been even more rewarding. His voice is unique, his looks are unconventionally sexy and he manages to deliver on every album. This is definitely one of his best releases. Who is he: Balding Phil, was the singer and drummer of Genesis. He is an occasional actor. On this album: Head for the upsetting 'Another Day It Paradise' which is a moody and depressing number, finding Phil delivering biting lyrics about how the other half lives. It will make you feel selfish, make you feel sad and make you realise how lucky you have it. Phil ... Read the complete review

Phil Collins new album But Seriously, is his fourth solo album. Like most of his album's, it involves a lot emotional and sentimental feeling's attached to it. It's not everybody's cup of tea to write song's for humanity but Phil Collins beats all odds. In this album he touches topic's like homelessness, poverty and suffering of a poor man. Like most of his love song's which are sympathetic, songs in this album carry out the same despairing, slightly ominous tone. It makes one think about their lives differently. It's a satisfying and long-lasting album. His decision was a good one as there's no doubt that tracks such as "Find a Way to My ... Read the complete review

Phil Collins's music never fails to impress and this album is no different. This was Phils fourth solo album released back in November 1989 by Virgin Records it is still being sold for around £11.00 on most sites so proves his popularity. After owning most of his albums i have to say this is his best by far. The album runs for around 59 minutes and includes 12 tracks. This album covers some quite meaningful themes with Another Day in Paradise taking a look at homelessness and 'Colours' which is sung with regards to the segregation of black and coloured people in South Africa, hence the title to the album But Seriously. Father to Son is also sung with his own son in mind. ... Read the complete review
