Advantages: Well......
Disadvantages: No good at pop
OK OK, so we have loads of boy band's out there, but have we not had them for years, although most people won't think of it like this but what were "The Beatles" and "The Rolling Stones" believe it or not they were boy band's in their days!! So we move on a few decades, we have a completly different style in music from all those years ago, but why does that mean we should not have serious boy band's, Beatlemania was all to do with good looks and good tunes, I would say Boyzone are just the same!! By Request is their Greatest hits album that covers all three of their massive selling albums, with 8 number one's and who know's how many top ten hit's it sure does deserve the title of a Greatest Hits album. So Ronan, Mikey, Shane, Stephen and Keith are all normal blokes from the Emerald isle, which if you ask me is where all the real talent is coming from these days, never has Ireland had such a good run for it's money with band's like this since U2, which may I add are a boy band (well they are!!). All of the guys do their fair share of singing and writing, more so Ronan and Stephen. The brains behind the writing is none other than Ronan himself he is full of talent and has also recently embarked on many solo projects one of them being the co manager of Irish sensation Westlife, but he has also had an equally successful solo career now with 2 UK number 1's and a UK number 1 album. Stephen has also recently embarked on a solo career with a recent top 5 UK hit other band member Mikey also took up the solo reigns but was not to concerned about how his single was to do in the charts although acheiveing a top 10 hit the same week as Stephen released his single. So back to "By Request" It is full of all the songs we love and a few of the ones we hate "Picture Of You" from the gocky "Bean The Movie", not one of their finer moments, one thing I
will say about Boyzone is they are not all that good at pop and should stick to ballads which they nroamlly do. Although they did do a fantastic cover version of "When The Going Get's Tough" which is the biggest selling Comic Relief single ever, and it is on the album, they also do an amazing cover of Anne Murray's (an old time crooner from years gone by) "You Needed Me", the first time I heard this song was sitting inthe car and my eyes just filled, I have listened to this then the original and apart from one being a man and the other a woman there is no difference in the talent. I think these guys will be around for a while to come, justhope they don't go to much out on their own.
