“ Artist: Cause Rockslide / Genre: Folk / Release Date: 2006 „
I doubt very much that this US artist took his name from the Badly Drawn Boy single of the same name but it is possible. Founder of the band Tim Chepstick has dabbled in music with a full line-up before but the results fell on deaf ears, so this is his solo effort from 2008, it shows great musicianship as the versatile vocalist from New Jersey plays the guitar, drums and keyboard himself as well as singing.
There's a sadness in the vocals of Chepstick, comparable in some ways to Paul Simon's or Cat Steven's (especially on At Least I Know), at times it is a bit too souly and emotional for my liking (The Train Tracks and Falling Through The Cracks), I prefer the awesome piano heavy ballads (Too Many Places To Go and Guessing Numbers)
This 10 track album is available on CD baby. Although the music isn't entirely to my liking, the talent is obvious and I think it's a sad day when The Cheeky Girls who have done little other than promote dietary disorders and bedding politicians have no problem finding funding yet this artist has resorted to asking for donations on his website to help release his next EP.
