Advantages: Soulful, Unusual Pop, Good Score

Disadvantages: Sometimes weak backing, Needs more tracks, Not as good as their last album

Originally released in the summer of 2001, this album from one of the US's premier boybands is re-issued here, with the added bonus of some attractive club remixes of three hit singles, Pop (by respected house outfit Deep Dish among others), Gone and Girlfriend.

The latter has been reworked by R&B production innovators Neptunes to fine, booty-shaking effect and features a typically catchy rap from Nelly. Only real urban music snobs would dismiss the track as being like the more typical, diluted R&B efforts from innumerable pop bands.

The album always has something of an R&B flava with the likes of Rodney Jerkins and Brian McKnight helping out, while Justin Timberlake has penned a few fine pop moments himself, such as See Right Through You or the tender Something Like You, which features none other than the legendary Stevie Wonder on harmonica.

The overall feel of this coming-of-age set is funky, with a plethora of jerky, electronic beats and syncopated synthesiser stabs lacing *NSYNC's developing vocal style throughout. Certainly a worthwhile re-issue.
