Advantages: It's likeable and pleasent

Disadvantages: Band who have lost the plot and the rock

I think that what defines this album from Hole's previous ones is that here is a band ( you could just say Courtney Love) who are writing music for people whereas before, the band wrote it how they wanted it, they couldn't give a crap about critical respect and mainstream success.
Celebrity Skin opens well, with the track of the album's name and the first tracks are good, as generally is the whole album but there is something missing. Gone is the punk attitude, gone is the anger, and gone is the emotive quality. This record seems so sentimental in comparrion to their previous ones. It is a 'nice' sounding album and one that will find admiration from the majority of people.
I don't like using the term 'sell-out' but here I feel justified in using it. Rock to pop, viscious punk queen to celebrity darling.
