As good as metal gets in Cornwall!

Chain Reaction were a NWOBHM band in action from 1980 - 1986, from little Cornwall, they started off as a bit of a joke, with a few tracks of their own and some Black Sabbath covers. They then started playing in local pubs and eventually moved on to better and bigger things, culminating in some reasonably good second slots - including supporting Budgie!

Chain Reaction had quite a Sabbath sound instrumentally, guitarist Andy Talbot has an Iommi sound to his playing whilst the vocals of Derek Hodd, sound a little more like Rob Halford. The band sound good to anyone who likes a bit of NWOBHM but I think it is disputable whether they have their own style. The lyrics are fun and enjoyable but you can kind of see that their a small band playing at being big rock stars!

This album was released quite recently and there were limited copies but they can still be bought through various online music shops like CD baby or Rockadrome and if you go to Derek Hodd's myspace page he claims to still have 40 copies which he is willing to sign. It's a reasonable album which covers all the band's best tracks but I wouldn't call it brilliant.
