Hotter Than July - Stevie Wonder
by salgirl - written on 29/03/01 (Very useful, 30 readings)
Rating:
It's the start of the 80's for this Stevie Wonder album, and as with the decade in general, there's a little bit of everything on here. "Did I hear You Say You Love Me?" - A bit rocky with an underlying funk bass line. Quite toe-tappy, but it lacks depth to really stick in your mind all that much. In my opinion it's not the best track to start the album with but it's passable, even if it is forgetable. "All I Do" - Now this is a minor classic and that soft Hammond Organ start is far more memorable. A great little song, perfectly suited to Stevie Wonder's easy style. A touch of the Quincy Jones about this in it's ...
Fulfillingness First Finale - Stevie Wonder

how he fails to understand how others cannot feel what he does. You really feel like you have learnt something about God and religion and how it feels to believe in it all. An absolute great song. Oh, I could write in length about each song in this way but you would give up reading. I will conclude here and say don t, whatever you do, pass this album by. You will never regret having and only will Wonder where it has been all your life. Your musical guide to life, in ...
For Once In My Life - Stevie Wonder

I just recently got into Stevie Wonder when a friend added the song I dont know why from this album to a mix CD she made me. I instantly loved it. It took me back to the true R&B tunes I used to love when I was growing up and I just found myself unable to stand still. This is dangerous if you are listening to it on an IPOD on the bus! Anyone who has never heard Stevie Wonders music, is really missing out. There is something really sweet and soulful about his music, his voice and his lyrics. His voice is smooth and innocent and it simply is irresistable. I know that some people have the idea that Stevie Wonder is cheesy and yeah I guess he is but its that kind of ...
Products similar to Characters - Stevie Wonder
Evilized - Dream Evil
Very little stands out.
A few good riffs here and there, and the style doesn't wear thin until the second track.
Existence - Dark Suns
Distinctive and impressive modern prog.
Lacks excitement as the album plods on.
Expanding Senses - Darkane
Interesting take on the thrash/death mix.
Style becomes repetitive.
Exposures: In Retrospect And In Denial - Dark Tranquillity
Excellent live performance, great chance to hear rare songs.
B-side material is mostly (and inevitably) forgettable.
Fairytales And Reality - Dionysus
Getting there.
Still in the shadow of other bands.
Fiction - Dark Tranquillity
Good stuff
None
Good Bad Not Evil - Black Lips
Some outstanding tracks
some let downs
Grinderman - Grinderman
A hard garage-rock leaning, fast and furious pace
A couple of tracks don't reach fruition
Grotesque Impalement - Dying Fetus
Fun, dark, heavy, creative death metal.
Cover material is uninspired.
For All Tid - Dimmu Borgir
Great historical atmosphere and melody.
Grating clean vocals, and fairly primitive execution.
