Seen as a return album, "Check Your Had" came out in 1992 as the third album from The Beastie Boys. The New Yorkers, consisting of the three MCs Ad-Rock, MCA and Mike D, were seen to return (off the back of two classic records) to return from two pure Hip Hop releases to move on stylistically to their roots in Punk Rock, whilst still holding on to both the Hip hop elements and also pulling in other ones such as Jazz too. 1. "Jimmy James" They kick the album off with a track that seems work well as the first track to the album as it seems to effectively lead on from the killer Hip Hop offering that was "Pal' Boutique" ... The Chek Your Head is one of Beastie Boys albums that doesn't have any big hits on it. But it was cheap, so I bought it to see what it was like in comparison to the latest one. The album is actually quite good and includes a lot of listenable tracks more so at times than the latest album... Some of the songs at times don't have a lot more than the vocal happening which makes a few tracks seem a little incomplete. But, generally they don't suffer too much from this. Groove Holmes and Time For Livin' are my favourite tracks as they have a good music as well as well constructed vocal. There are a total of 20 tracks and so you will find ... Read the complete review

Most people I know, when they hear the name 'Beastie Boys', think of one of two things. It's either the three frat-boy MCs fighting for their right (to party) while the rest of us cringe, or it's three guys in boiler suits and hard hats rapping while a giant robot goes to town. Check Your Head is somewhere between what has arguably been two extremely opposed, yet equally nebulous points of the B-Boys' careers. Though they pubicly decry what they were seen to stand for during the 'License To Ill' days, the attitude doesn't seem terribly different. They've evolved, matured, but they're still looking for a good time. ... Read the complete review

This is the follow up to the much acclaimed 'Paul's Boutique'. It is an electic mix of hip hop, funk, jazz and a bit of punk which takes you back to their roots. The Beastie Boys know what's cool and love fun. This album sums up their attitude and is full of their humour. With decisive beats and fine jams, it will never leave you bored. You could say they come of age with the release of 'Check your head' far removed from the days of girls dancing in cages and fifteen foot phalic symbols on stage. They are still fighting for their right to party but this time they are doing it in style. You don't have to be into hip hop to like this album, you ... Read the complete review
