This album translates to suitcase and could also be described as a "mixed bag", the female quintet out of St. Petersburg (Iva nova) released this album in 2006. The band write lyrics in a traditional Russian folk style but opt for a rockier outlook on life, the vocals sound somewhere between old punk and Slavic folk allowing the voice to change from a mellow angelic like sound through to a powerful and meaningful one. Never grotesque but almost always upbeat, the fusion of ska, punk and traditional Russian music is a good one and makes a change from the growly style of singing that Leningrad play or the cabaret, klezmer, ska mixes flying around in ...
