17 YEARS in the making... How could I not review an album with that impressive claim!? For my 400th review, I wanted to write about something which was fairly epic - so what better than Guns n' Roses latest offering, 'Chinese Democracy'. I have never been a massive Guns n' Roses fan, but I do appreciate the fact that the band have written some blinding tracks over the years. 'Welcome to the Jungle', 'Sweet Child o' Mine ' and 'November Rain' are all classics in their own right. So how has the band evolved since the release of their previous studio album 'The Spaghetti Incident?' from way back in 1993. Well firstly, ... Read the complete review

I've been a GNR fan for the past (almost) 20 years and as millions of others was waiting anxiously for this album. I've read reviews before, been on GNR forums and seen my favourite artist after 17-years of waiting at Download 2006 - an experience that will stay with me forever... Well. My overall impression is that every song tells a story and it is impossible to listen to all of them at once, as simply, you will get tired/sick/bored at the end. This is caused by enormous emotional load that can be found in the tracks. Axl's vocals is far more better than 15-20 years ago, piano skills - amazing and those guitars... I have discovered that the best way is to ... Read the complete review

"Chinese Democracy" is the first Guns 'n' Roses album for the best part of two decades: Can it live up to the hype? Slash and co are gone, and the current line-up is : Axl Rose, Dizzy Reed, Tommy Stinson, Chris Pitman, Bryan Mantia, Richard Fortus, and Bumblefoot Frank Ferrer. So, with Rose as the only original member, can this album possible live up to previous glories? I deliberately haven't read any other reviews on dooyoo or similar sites, but I did read a lot in newspapers when it first came out, and the overall tone wasn't good: To give you a flavour of the general consensus, here's a little joke ... Chinese Democracy is one way overdue album and it really makes you wonder why it took Axl Rose so long to sort his act out and finally get it together. It's been thirteen years since Guns n Roses released a studio album back in 1995 - The Spaghetti Incident, which contained no original material. Chinese Democracy, then, has to be the most eagerly anticipated and long awaited album of all time! I actually listened to the album in full on Guns n Roses' Myspace page a few days before the official release. Mid-afternoon the album had received nearly two million plays that day. However, sales figures for Chinese Democracy never came close to the iconic ... Read the complete review

Let's face it, this is not Guns N Roses. Why Axl Rose fought so hard to keep the name is anyone's guess. Even a newborn puppy has heard of Axl Rose, and knows that he was the lead singer of Guns N Roses, so he could easily release this album under his name and not lose any notoriety. However, rather than launch the album as a solo album or for a new band with a new name, akin to Velvet Revolver, Rose has put together an impressive array of musicians - Bumblefoot, Buckethead and Brian May to name but three (although Brian May's guitar part on the record was removed from the final mix) and passed them off as Guns N Roses. Or perhaps the line up is more Guns N ... Read the complete review
