Advantages: Great eclectic mix of songs

Disadvantages: Doesn't quite feel like a complete Ween album

Ween are pretty impossible to describe or define and this album from the mid 1990s may well be seen as the pinnacle of this. Following on from their previous masterpieces, the group's fourth official album breaks from a tradition of drugged infused noise, albeit classic, into a realm of drugged infused genres and set styles. Each song on this album seems as if a different group wrote, played and produced it and each one of those groups are pretty darn good at what they do!

Take, for example, the song 'Drifter in the Dark' which throws a slow country groove into a mix which sees heavy funk (Voodoo Lady), ironic love songs (Baby Bitch), Mexican epic ballads (Buenos Tardes Amigo) and massive guitar slow-jams (A Tear For Eddie). Further songs including The HIV Song and 'Spinal meningitis Got me Down' help to portray Ween as a joke band to those who nonchalantly listen, yet to those who get into this album they quickly realise the talent that these two americans hold when it comes to song writing, guitar playing and cross-genre style.

Though not the best album to come from these guys, Chocolate and Cheese is a milestone in their career and is highly enjoyable. It doesn't hold together as well as their previous album, Pure Guava, though it still beats most music out there today.
