Advantages: Catchy and heavy

Disadvantages: Some songs are dumb as a post

Limp Bizkit's preposterously named Chocolate Starfish and Hot Dog Flavoured Water is a largely dismissed album because, admittedly, it does feature a lot of unremittingly stupid and inspidly brainless songs, but it's also got some insanely catchy songs on it. After their solid album Significant Other, it is a shame that their quality has decreased considerably, but this does have a few quality tracks, if also a bunch of inane ones too. It's quite a guilty pleasure for me - basically, so bad it's good.

I must admit to not having known Bizkit from the beginning - I found out about them when most people did, when they released the song Take A Look Around, which was used on the soundtrack to Mission Impossible II. It's a brilliant rendition of a classic theme and helped propel them from being a fairly obscure rock band to one of the biggest on the planet.

The music in general on the album is quite varied, although it'd probably best be labelled as "rock" or "nu metal". Fred Durst gets a lot of stick for his voice being annoying - and whilst it does go quite high sometimes unnecessarily, I think it's more the lyrics that are a problem than his voice.

There are so many well known and famous songs on the album - perhaps mostly famously is the party tune Rollin', which is guaranteed to get a room head banging. Also, My Way was another hit single and was used at WWE WrestleMania 17 where it became popular back in 2001.

The album has 17 tracks in total, ranging largely in quality, from the "classics", to ones like Hot Dog that are incredibly divisive, where Fred swears a LOT, and copies some Nine Inch Nails lyrics. There's also a hidden track where he talks to Ben Stiller which is rather pointless.

It's fairly intermittent, but there are some insanely catchy, heavy songs on here, and it's an album that's sure to please its target audience, and then some.

Summary: Intermittent but decent
