“ Artist: Christine Guldbrandsen / Genre: World Music / Label: MBN Music Business Norway / Release Date: 2007 „
Christine Guldbrandsen is an established Norweigen singer, but came to world acclaim when she entered the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 and came top 20. "Christine" is her third Studio album, containing 10 new songs, mostly sung in Norweigen, contrasting to her previous English albums, "Surfing in the Air" and "Moments".
First off, the album cover is a great monochrome image of Christine Guldbrandsen. She states that this album is to be more intimate, and the cover reflects this perfectly. There is also class in the font used, and the composition is great.
"Christine" is a blend of Norweigen folk and pop, the genre suiting to her vast vocal range. My favourite songs include: "Dansekjolen", "Langt Bortenfor", "Spindelvev" and "Den Dag kjem Aldei" for their upbeat and rhythmic tune and because they are quite catchy.
The whole album flows really well, with the mood flowing from one song to another. Whilst one may argue that the songs are all quite "samey", it is Christine's authentic uniqueness, and her original style, bringing pop with folk.
This album can be purchased from her official website at around 20 Euros, and payable by Paypal or Visa. I bought this when it first came out and it came to about £15, and have been enjoying it since. If you like abit of alternative music, try this.
