Advantages: Totally unreal
Disadvantages: some odd parts
Being a huge NWA fan one must follow Dr Dre, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg. When I heard about the tour last year I searched everywhere to get some tickets. Unfortunately they were only showing in the US and I didn’t have the time or the money to go and see them. I did however make sure I bought the video, it was an 18 as I’d expected and bought it after work one day in my local Woolworth’s store. I knew I would like it even though I had never seen it before. The thing is with rap if you seriously like someone’s first album you will more than likely like their next album. When I got home I played the video. Firstly it had an intro showing the huge and well coloured tour bus and viewed a few of the rappers. First to come out was Ice Cube, his entrance was extremely dramatic, a small capsule filled with smoke was lowered to the floor then Ice Cube came strolling out dressed in what seemed an expensive outfit. The result was thousands of screaming fans chanting his name. The song he kicked off with “Hello” was classic it was the perfect tune to kick starts the perfect video. He followed with one my favourites “You Can Do It” this tune drew out Ms Toi and The Westside Connection who themselves came out to screaming fans. The song itself it a great body-moving song. After Ms Toi had departed WC did thus really cool walk which looked great, Ice Cube then followed with a few more bumping’ tracks and left Boston Rocked and in the mood for Eminem. Of course great rappers must have breaks too so in-between songs or while changing set small videos were played on the big screen. These videos help the fans understand more about the tour which is great for them. It also talks about the rappers themselves and what they think, it also shows them when they are not working most of who smoke weed. As for weed well Snoop smokes it on stage and they have a chronic break half way through their set. Eminem Also c
ame out to a roar followed by his crew D12. Eminem really showed what he is like talking about the ”insane clown pu*sy.” Eminem’s set was fantastic he came out in a county jail suit and well as for his freestyle rapping it is totally great. The tunes Eminem did were, kill you, the real slim shady, marshall Mathers and a few more. By this time the crowd were rocking they were loving it and I can see why so far two rappers had just had just exploded in front of them producing some great rap and videos. Before Dr Dre and Snoop came on stage they played a short film where they first stop at Snoop girlfriends house for him to get his hair done then go to the back of the liquor store to get some wee. While they are getting their weed the store is robed and a fueled gunfight follows with Dre in trouble but Snoop saving him at the last. The film really captures the attention of the crowd and is totally unreal. Snoop and Dre then blat onto stage to sing “the Next Episode.” Nate Dogg comes on to finish it up Dre Gives Nate thanks and then Snoop Dogg – what’s my name comes on. This song is followed by “Nuttin’ But A G-Thang”, Bitch Please and Whats the difference both featuring Xzibit. Forgot about Dre follows with Eminem coming back out then when that finishes the crowd call out Snoop Dogg. The pair then does a dedication, which entails a few songs including, Eazy E and 2Pac. This shows their complete dedication to Westside rap and really shows the crowd what they are like. Obviously between songs there are short films including “the chronic break” which add to the humour of the evening. They finish with Still D.R.E and go of to a deathening roar. Other rappers who appear include, Xzibit, Nate Dogg, Devin, Mel Man, D12, Mack 10,Wcand many others who also appear backstage. The set for the production is absolutely great the designers had spent ages fixing it and making it look per
fect for the rappers which it did. The video had to be certified 18 due to the constant swearing by the rappers and a lot of sexual content both in-between tunes and during them. I would definitely recommend it to a friend and give this a positive 95%
