... a fantastic cover of the classic Donny Hathaway ballad. This really demonstrates the style of the album which brings 70's soul into the modern day with a hip hop twang. Whilst not as awesome as the original version this really is rather impressive and showcases what the three can do when they show off their voices. A very good track indeed. 5.) 15 Will get you 20 This is a sensational track which is a cautionary tale about under-age sex. I think this sees it from the more common but less written about side which ...more

CITY HIGH ********* City High consist of three members; the boys: Ryan Toby and Robby Pardlo and the girl: Claudette Ortiz. When Ryan, a former child actor, was working on the film Sister Act 2, he befriended female co-star Lauryn Hill. The two aspiring musicians became friends straight away. Lauryn became an international superstar with the Fugees not long after yet despite all her success remained friends with Ryan. When fellow Fugee Wyclef Jean began looking for new acts to produce and manage Lauryn told him about Ryan. Robbie met Wyclef first though and got signed as his first solo act, with Claudette and Ryan going along to the ...  Read the complete review

The Pop Rap/R&B trio, consisting of Ryan Toby, Robbie Pardlo and Claudette Ortiz debuted with their eponymously-named debut, "City High" in 2001 following the success of their lead single, "What Would You Do". 1. "Didn't Ya" You have the album begun with a very plain song which only has Claudette Ortiz on the vocals. It is a very general Pop R&B song, and does very little as they attempt to take from modern trends in the stylish forms of the genre, but do so unsuccessful. I thought it made for a very poor beginner, and wasn't a very good one to set-up what would occur later. **One ...  Read the complete review

City High were a R&B group from the US and the term one album wonders can be applied to them. They became famous in 2001 through one of their hit tracks that sampled a Dr Dre track and then the group split in 2003. It is quite sad as this album was great and they sold millions, they could have made a huge impact on the industry. The group consists of Ryan Toby, Robbie Pardlo and Claudette Ortiz. What a lot of people don't know is that Wyclef Jean had a huge role in the formation of this group with his group member Lauryn Hill in the Fugees being good friends with members of the group. There really isn't much else to say about them so I may as well just ...  Read the complete review

**Introduction** Rarely does an artist come along and release a debut album as good as this and then not follow it up, But that is the case with City High and their self titled debut album from 2001. I remember when this was released and I was a huge fan of them. City High combined the vocals of Claudette Ortiz, Ryan Toby and Robbie Pardlo. The trio's music was a combination of R&B & Hip Hop. For me this album has a great lyrical content which is a key to the albums value. So here's my review of the greatest debut of the Noughties in my eyes. **City High** The debut album was released on 22nd May 2001 on the Interscope record ...  Read the complete review

City High was an album released in 2001 by the hip hop/ R'n'B group City High, a band made up of, Toby Ryan, Claudette Ortiz and Robby Pardlo. There is a nice mix of actual singing and rapping in this album, this was the only album released by City High, though I think that there are some great songs on it and they should have made more music. You can buy City High in music stores for around £5, or less if you shop around on the internet which is a great price if you like their style of music. The track listing for City High is as follows: 1.) Didnt Ya 2.) Three Way 3.) Why 4.) A Sony For You 5.) 15 Will Get You 20 6.) ...  Read the complete review
