City - Strapping Young Lad

Strapping Young Lad are one of those bands not many people have heard of, and i can understand why. To the untrained ear, its just noise, screaming and bass. Its easy to see why a lot of people dislike them. But, if you are a true metalhead, then these should be your favourite band. The musical compositioning is brilliant. Every band members exceeds expectations and you get a clear picture of how talented they really are. The track of the album for my has to be 'Oh My Fucking God', not only because of the track title, but because of how insane and amazing it is. This is a review of City, the 2nd album of Strapping Young Lad the Canadian Progressive/Extreme metal band. This album is often critically acclaimed as the best work of Strapping Young Lad, to add to that Devin Townsend is often cited as a genius. Made in 1997, the album should appeal to me but doesn't impress me anyway near as much as it should do, I've tried to get into it several times and the mixture of different styles messes it up a bit for me.
