Before I go any further I think I should declare that I am a very big fan of Gerry Rafferty and own many of his albums. I think he is underrated, both as a musician and as a writer. Anyway ? here?s my review of ?City to City.? Billed by many as Gerry?s fist solo album, that was, in fact, in 1971. Called ?Can I Have My Money Back?, it was released after Gerry had stopped being in the ?Humblebums? (with Billy Connolly) and started being in ?Stealers Wheel?(with Joe Egan). Gerry Rafferty has a very smooth singing voice and this album has some really good tracks on it. It is not the sort of album that you would sit around and listen to, but it is an excellent collection to play as background music. There are a good variety of songs, with every one having that distinctive Raffety sound to them. This album was released in 1978, but it doesn’t seem over 20 years since I first heard some of these tracks. There are ten tracks on this album: The Ark.
