War Of The Worlds: Highlights

~~ War of the Worlds (the highlights) ~~ I found this CD in my collection, if I remember correctly my husband brought it for me because I had lost my copy of the Original War of the Worlds, actually I think I lent it someone and never got it back. He saw this and thought I would enjoy it, I do, but it's not the full length version. So a little about the album, please do not get it mixed up with the films, it does follow the storyline but it is the musical version. ~~ A Little History ~~ We can trace the story of War of the Worlds back to its author H.G.Wells who published his book in 1898. He was a science fiction writer and his book was about the Martians ...

Every Song Tells A Story

quite some time now and it continues to be one of my firm favourites that I bring out to listen to many times. It s a compilation of songs from Various Artists and the one thing that they all have in common is that they each tell a story. Considering that most of the tracks are only three or four minutes that s no mean feat! Most of the songs are very well known although as the album was made in 1995 there are no recent hits on there but there are certainly some timeless classics such as Elton John s Candle in the Wind and Up the Junction by Squeeze. Inside the CD case there is a pullout leaflet which provides all the lyrics for all the songs which is great for if you ...

Breakdown: Very Best Of Euphoric Dance 2009
by plipplop - written on 08/04/09 (Very useful, 202 readings)
Rating:
Sanna and Pitron s remix of Madcon s Beggin is a strong mid-mix tune and leads well into some of the lesser-known numbers. The mix is shamelessly driven by the Various MOS imprints, with Hard2Beat giving us the likes Basshunter s new one and Hed Kandi donating a spattering of funky house. There are only a couple of misfires, notably that irritating aforementioned Wispa song and the painfully overplayed Platnum cover of Love Shy. The second disc is by far the best one, probably being the only mix of the three that is really what I d call euphoric dance and best reflects the kind of sound that complements by mood where club music is concerned. The trance/house mix in each ...

The Fantastic 80's Vol.2
Great tunes to remember
Not all great songs, and not a lot of info on the album from the sleeve
So This Is Great Britain - Holloways
A decent debut of catchy tracks
Won't appeal to many who don't appreciate Indie music
Shakedown - Freemasons
Lengthy track listing with no fillers, good tunes
Still lacks variety
Scouting For Girls - Scouting For Girls
A real fun album
None really
Riders Of The Plague - Absence
Making melodic death metal interesting again.
Still owes its sound entirely to earlier Swedish bands.
Metal Heart - Accept
Accessible pop-tinged metal that still sounds great, with a wide diversity of styles.
Some inevitably terrible, awful songs.
Horrorhammer - Abscess
Fairly enjoyable mix of death metal and hardcore punk.
Hugely inconsistent and lacking in substance.
Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix - Soundtrack
A solid, listenable score that is great in the film
But it's all just a bit too anonymous
Capital Gold Eighties Legends
Some great tracks
Some confusing choices
Abydos - Abydos
A great modern metal opera combining the best elements of the style and few of the weaknesses.
The concept and lyrics themselves are far from riveting.
