Now That's What I Call Music! 58
by BatchUK - written on 19/06/05 (Useful, 135 readings)
Rating:
This album is the "A-Z of pop" so they say but I have to agree. They have a varied amount of pop and also some other genres in like dance and rock/indie still so they is something for everyone. My favourite tracks have to be Shapeshifters, Eamon, Frankee, George Michael, Narcotic Thrust, Franz Ferdinand, The Rasmus, Gladiator, Busted, O-Zone and Nina Sky. The selection of tracks played in order on this album is fantastic. Why? Because they had decided to put both Eamon and Frankee back to back on the first cd on tracks 6 and 7. Now that's quality! If this weren't to happen and put in different places, then it would be poor. However, I have spotted ...

Now That's What I Call Music! 58

Rating:
I was expecting impressive things from Now 58, especially seeing as Now 57, the April 2004 offering from the Now That's What I Call Music crew was so good. However, I found this to be yet another disappointing compilation of chart music, with hard fought over spots going to undeserving tracks once more. Disc 1 had a few good tracks on it. My favourite was probably Hey Ya from Outkast, and Left Outside Alone from Anastacia had a catchy beat to it. However, the disc starts off average with Rachel Stevens' Some Girls, and continued in the same vein for most of the disc. There are a few decent tracks towards the end, with Razorlight's Golden Touch and Keane's Everybody's Changing ...

Classic Fm Hall Of Fame At The Movies

There is however a lot to be said for compilations and shortened arrangements. The reason sections of pieces are famous and used over and over again in Various forms is that they are undeniably good, and although it is sad that one of the major outlets for classical music these days is backing tracks for the media in adverts and films, so it is always perceived to be backing incidental music, rather than worth listening to in its own right, the compilations keep the classical market alive. Some of the best compilations out there at the moment are the ones created by Classical FM. Every now and then, they release one of these albums and ...
