The Lightning Seeds' debut album is full of gorgeous pop tunes. Producer (bands such as Echo and the Bunnymen and the Fall) turned performer, Ian Broudie shows 'em all how it's done. Short and sweet, the songs have melodies to die for, and they just keep coming. "All I want", "Bound in a nutshell" - the first two songs are easy to singalong to, and then comes "Pure", still my favourite Lightning Seeds song. It has a great melody, but also very touching lyrics, even poetic lyrics. And still the perfect pop keeps on coming - "Sweet dreams", like many of Broudie's songs, is about ordinary people and the ... Read the complete review
