... The Rhythm (Go Baby Go) is rejigged by Jorg Schmid. It not have been tampered with, the remix is pretty hardcore and has enough bounce, yet the soul of the original is lost totally. Elin Lanto does 'Discotheque' and comes highly recommended. Straight out of the September and Infernal camp, it knows who it is aiming at and is an outright pop dance success. Producer/DJ Alex K warms up the crowd on 'If You Were Mine' with some hooky verses and a cutesy chorus. Disc two now; Italo Brothers go all Scooter and go jumpsty...more

Premium Review Clubland 15: AVE IT!!! (382 words)
by - written on 10/08/09 (Very useful, 19 readings)
Rating:

You have to admire the longevity of the Clubland albums, there seems to be a new one out every few weeks. Now up to volume fifteen, two discs of the latest club trancers are stacked up for your aural pleasure. Disc one starts as it means to go on with a wicked little remix of Tinchy Strider. Hypasonic make it harder and faster and chuck in some insane synths to keep the clubbers happy. For something more subdued, head to Cahill's rerub of Alesha Dixon, turning in a funkier edge mix that isn't so frantic, yet keeping all the vocal. 'Noisettes' 'Don't Upset The Rhythm (Go Baby Go) is rejigged by Jorg Schmid. It not have been tampered with, the remix ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Now That's What I Call Council House.... (1511 words)

A review of Clubland volume 15, which was released on June 22nd, the double CD version can be purchased for around £10 online, with a download also available at similar prices. It's a while since we had a Clubland compilation and you could be forgiven for thinking that the record label (AATW - All Around the World) was taking the time to review the approach to be taken for future editions. The earlier volumes of the series were extremely popular and commercially very successful, but as the series has drawn on, the label seems to have distanced itself from its roots, stuffing each compilation with more and more happy hardcore; a niche market, at the best of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Clubland 15: Cheese, cheese and more cheese, but is it too much? (965 words)
by - written on 01/07/09 (Very useful, 228 readings)
Rating:

To appreciate a Clubland album you have to understand the concept of Clubland first. The Clubland albums are not about serious music. They are light hearted cheesy fun. They intend to make you feel lively and bouncy and get you in the mood for dancing. It's quite impressive to see the Clubland genre still going to reach a 15th album however the big question is; Is the genre running out of ideas? First off, the track list: Disc 1 1. Agnes - Release Me 2. Tinchy Stryder Ft N-Dubz - Number 1 (Hypasonic Remix) 3. N-Force - All Or Nothing 4. Styles & Breeze Presents Infextious - Amigos (Technikal Remix) 5. Alesha Dixon - ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review better than i expected (181 words)
by - written on 28/07/09 (Useful, 2 readings)
Rating:

having bought clubland cd's in the past and have sometimes been dissapointed i was in two minds weather or not to purchase this one. i decided to go ahead and buy it and i am very glad. all the tracks are up to date and have been mixed brilliantly. everytime i play this cd it makes me want to get up and dance! the only downside is that some of the beats can become very repetitive and that some good parts of the song can be missed out however this is to be expected when remixing a song you put your own trademark on it. i would recomend this cd to anyone who wants the feeling of a nightclub in their home with modern trance music. this is a must have for partygoers and ...  Read the complete review

Compilation - 2001

Full of Classics. A couple of Duffers?

Brilliant music A couple of songs not to my taste

The 8 untouched songs will please some Complicated, messy, clumsy and awful remixes of songs which did have potential

Great value for money, plenty of decent tracks and keeps up the Clubland reputation Some dire songs, not to everyone's liking

A gentle and relaxing tempo achieved, perfect background music Very boring and lifeless in places, easy to miss songs

Talented performers. But you wouldn't know it from listening to this.

The Black Waltz - Kalmah
Successful change of approach. Keyboards rule over guitars.

Great raps and great beats None

The Sugarhill Gang - Sugarhill Gang
Classic Hip hop Long tracks. Songs are off-putting.

They Will Return - Kalmah
Faster, more energetic and more talented than predecessor. Classic heavy metal style sounds comparatively weak on occasion.

Tonight's Decision - Katatonia
Good album-art, memorable choruses, innovative guitar work, melancholy, emotive. Poor drums, repetitive, mainstream

Troll - Lumsk
Probably an impressive folk performance, I expect. Really boring and samey.

Warzone - Jungle Rot
More of the same. More of the same.
