Advantages: good choices

Disadvantages: some dodgy ones

Three discs here of songs that are billed as classics, or classix, which is obviously slightly cooler. The clubland series has been successful, there is now a spin-off music tv channel and the live tours always attract thousands.

Disc one gets underway with Cascada, Natalie delivers a storming vocal and showcases that she is a rather fine singer, managing to convey the hurt and anguish in her voice.

Scooter are given a makeover by one half of Styles and Breeze, but it keeps enough of the original to keep it sounding familiar. On the subject of Styles and Breeze, dip into the wonderful 'Discolights' by Ultrabeat and Styles where robotic vocodered vocals are the order of the day.

N Trance's classic 'Set U Free' is given some treatment and toughened up by Voodoo and Serano, while still utilising Llorenna's epic vocal. Then we get some delicious old skool piano sounds on the Styles song 'Gettin' Better' which is fast and furious.

The second disc throws in some treats, as Sunblock revamp an old Corona song, while The Wideboys add some heavy bass to the Pussycat Dolls. Less successful is Alex K going all donk on Girls Aloud, which does not sit well with me. I also do not like the remake of 'I Think We're Alone Now' by Pascal, which has watered down vocals and a lack of clout about it.

Head to Infernal doing a very sexy version of 'Self Control' with breathy vocals and slow padded synths, before going mental as Frisco redo my old fave 'Rhythm Of The Night' by speeding it up and adding a heavy bassline.

The third disc oddly has Lady Gaga sitting at the start, which stands out like a sore thumb amidst the dancier stuff. Rachel McFarlane's 'Lover' is a winner with anthemic vocals and real presence, while the Bodyrockers succeed in combining guitrars with dance for the growly 'I Like The Way.' Unfortunately, a hideous track from LMC reworking New Radicals is a misfire as is DJ Gollum's trance version of Tatu.

60 tracks gives good value though so you should take a look if you like your club stuff.

Summary: not bad
