My user name gives it all away really, but just in case you aren?t sure, I am a huge Foo Fighters fan, and more specifically, the man behind it all?the legend that is Dave Grohl. 1997 release, ?The Colour & The Shape? was the second album release from the band which Grohl put together in 1994 after his Nirvana heyday, and it was without doubt more commercial than their debut. When he put the band together, he had the confidence to be the front man, and not hide behind a drum kit unrecognized as he had done for so many years before. The line up on this album is different from the one you see today. Grohl ... Read the complete review

The Foo Fighters really are one of the best rock bands to come to prominence in this decade, proven perhaps no better than with their album The Colour and the Shape, which was a huge critical success upon release, such that it was re-released in a 10th Anniversary Edition! The Foo Fighters are one of the few rock bands to have a crossover audience, in that they're heavy enough to please Metallica fans, but also light and friendly enough in tone that they will also attract fans of Indie and generally soft alternative rock. The songs are heavy at times and fast moving, but David Grohl mostly imbues songs with a very comic bent, meaning things never get ... Read the complete review

As there are 19 tracks on the album and I don't want this review to become too long, I might limit how much I write for the weaker songs, maybe just put the final opinion, I hope this is alright. THE TRACKS ========== Track 1- Doll ========== This is a very short song by the band, but it is pretty good, it's a very slow song, the start of the song Grohl's voice is very much in the background, but when the drums join in his voice becomes the main part of the song and it makes for quite a nice song. Something I didn't expect to come from the Foo's but it is an enjoyable song to listen to and it's like an introduction to the rest ... Read the complete review

'The Colour and the Shape' is the second Foo Fighters album which was released through Capitol Records in 1997. The album possesses the track 'Monkey Wrench' which seems to be quite a popular one with the vast majority of major fans of the band I've come across in the past; I personally do not derive much enjoyment whatsoever from listening to this one but still find this album to be hugely enjoyable and highly entertaining on the whole. The album contains 13 tracks and this therefore provides for 47 minutes of music. The album begins well with the track 'Doll', this is a powerful piece of music and then the next track that the band progresses into is ... Read the complete review

As Foo Fighter are one of my favourite bands and I've even gotten to see them live at Pukkelpop 2003, I thought I was about time I reviewed all their albums, starting with this one. Although this is not the Foo Fighter's first album and isn't as popular as the other albums, it shows the variety that they can actually play and won over a lot the sceptics on whether the Foo Fighter were just another Rock Band. Believe me, they are not. History of the Foo Fighters The Foo Fighters were formed in 1994 after the demise of Nirvana. David Grohl was the drummer in Nirvana but became the lead singer of the Foo Fighter. They chose Foo Fighter, which is a term ... Read the complete review
