This debut album from Canadian progressive death metal band Augury blew me away on my first listen, and I've heard a lot of death metal bands claiming to be "progressive." The main difference with Augury from more well-known bands like Opeth is that this band is still grounded firmly in its death metal origins, supplementing the heavy and extreme sound with experimental touches that take their cues from symphonic metal, black metal and the more technical side of death metal as practiced by Atheist and Cynic.
