Rating:

Advantages: Great sound, easy to listen to, not too heavy

Disadvantages: Some original fans may not like the punk-pop direction of the band

Americana, following Ixnay on The Hombre developed the link between punk rock and the world of mainstream pop. Conspiracy of One follows in there tracks, with the philosophy if it ain't broke then don't fix it.

Although you will see the similarity in the style of the album, the tracks sound fresh, new and lively.

Track reviews:
---------
The first track on the album, after the now standard Offspring Introduction, is "Come Out Swinging" - This track is fast paced and kicks the album off really well. The first single "Original Prankster" is the most similar to the highly successful "Pretty Fly for a White Guy", it is this song that shows one of the closest relationships to the pop world. Next up is "Want You Bad" - The second single to be released. This track has a great punky guitar sound, and nice vocals. "Million Miles Away" features the classic Offspring background vocals, a great chorus. "Dammit, I changed Again" is a different song, with picked guitar during the verses, moving onto "Living in Chaos" with a funky little guitar riff. "Special Delivery" is one of my favorites on the album, its just a great song, weird background vocals, great bass...."One Fine Day" is the love or hate track, I started by hating it, its fast, but it grew on me. Its now an anthem to the album and pop-punk sound - This is where personal opinion comes into play - just give it a chance. The last run of songs is great, fantastic guitar, great vocals.....even the slow "Denial Revisited"
---------

The album is a great one to add to your collection, punky, but not too heavy. It makes for great listening, and will appeal to a wide audience who maybe wouldn't normally buy an album labelled as punk. Dexters vocals on the album are great, Noodles guitar playing rocks....

I went to see the Offspring at Wembley Arena, they were great live,
and the new tracks really worked, it was weird to see such a variety of people there, differences in cultures and age...everyone enjoying themselves.
