With Love And Squalor - We Are Scientists

Premium Review Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt (540 words)
by rleigh - written on 14/04/08 (Very useful, 55 readings)
Rating:

release of the With Love and Squalor album as it was expected to be something really quite special. Usually I would say never believe the hype, but with We Are Scientists things were always a little bit different. I say this because the band had already provided an impressive Lamacq live session, and one of the bands songs had already been chosen to be Zane Lowe s record of the week before the album was even released. The early signs were strong and With Love and Squalor was therefore gearing up to be an excellent album release. Right from the very first moment I heard this album I was mightily impressed, the music truly is brilliant and this album has been ...

With Love And Squalor - We Are Scientists

Crowned Review Rocket science? This is not! (1324 words)
by Kepler - written on 23/11/07 (Very useful, 93 readings)
Rating:

distinct sense of fun, which is shown in the edgy, witty lyrics and sing along choruses. In market where new bands seem to be springing up every day We Are Scientists don t seem to have garnered the sort of appreciation that their debut record deserves, but then that is hardly surprising in a genre which is already overloaded with sound alike bands and promises to collapse under the weight of its own mediocrity. Whether the band go on to produce an album of true and unabashed quality may well be down to their ability to evolve, because the indie/alt/post-punk market is one under severe strain and the record buying public must surely be at the limits of tolerance for ...

Pop - 2008

good for fans not enough well known remixes

Catchy harmonies, character of the band has a great feel. Can be a bit samey if you dont give it a chance.

An improvement on the first album with more strength in depth Flies is a poor song

THE BEST "MUSIC" NONE!

Very cheesy and very funny Very dodgy in places

Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie - Soundtrack

Squawk - Budgie
Some fun riffs albeit not very original None

Never Turn Your Back On A Friend - Budgie
Budgie's style defined, and it mostly works. Soft songs are still the weakest point, and far too frequent.

In For The Kill - Budgie
Heavier sound returns, a couple of classics. Abundance of mediocrity in-between.

Gods Of War + Blood Upon The Altar - Blasphemy
Bad attitude and interesting fusion of extreme, early nineties genres. Songs are so short as to be fairly pointless.

Santa Monica '72 - David Bowie
Pop Rock - 1995

Christiane F.: Wir Kinder Vom Bahnof Zoo - David Bowie - Soundtrack
Soundtrack - 2001

Budgie - Budgie
Classic early heavy metal. Second-rate Sabbath substitute.

Bandolier - Budgie
Intriguing and diverse. Still some weak links, though less than usual.

Instruments Of Torture - Brodequin
Intense. Lacks variety.
