Its called It's Electric: The Sound of the 80's, so you are kind of knowing what to expect. Nice dittys from that decade that are synth-laden and maybe a little dark or quirky. So as expected you have Ultravox, Duran Duran, Human League, Thomas Dolby, Heaven 17. Then you have some bands that, although not electronic, it would be fair to say they were part of that scene. Say, Culture Club, Spandau Ballet. There is not a bad choice here, though the album does miss out some major players such as Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, John Foxx and Japan. I don't understand the front cover to this album. A group of grown men, getting overly friendly with each other. Some are wearing sailor outfits and a couple appear to have stripped off. Hardly the typical behaviour of men at sea, is it? This is a three disc album bursting with high energy dance tracks to satisfy the less discerning dancefloors. There are two regular discs and the other CD has a lovely megamix, which means all the songs are blended together. It kicks off with 'High Energy' by Evelyn Thomas, an out and proud anthem with a steamy vocal and a chorus which is all about her saying how the energy is lifting her higher. Interesting looking artwork I think you might agree. A rather acceptable and toned man in just a pair of briefs, looking slightly moody, against a delightful pink backdrop. This is an album full of camp and cheesy disco pop anthems, you might have guessed that bit already! There are nine songs on the first disc and then another nine on the second disc. The album wastes no time in getting down to business. 'I Kissed A Boy' is a hideous retread of the Katy Perry song. A man sings this one and he is flat, off key and sounds like he has recorded his vocals in a public toilet. Words cannot describe the poorness of this song.
