Having purchased Cream Anthems 2001 I was only too happy to part with my hard-earned cash for this album when it was released in May. Now when reading this opinion you must bare in mind that I am not a fan of ‘commercial’ dance and in fact hate most of the cheese that is in the charts and passes for dance music. This girl is a real hard house chick. Yet I do like some of the more mellow music that was hot at the time of release. It can’t be all bang bang you know! As is often the case with Cream CDs, this one yet again suffers with the problem of not really knowing who it is trying to appeal to. The more well-known tracks by Chocolate Puma, Rui Da Silva, Public Domain, Safri Duo (amongst others) are all exceptionally good, but most people who are seriously into this type of music will already own them, either as singles or on more specialist compilation CDs, and so this will have no appeal for them. This would be unproblematic if Cream were hoping to sell its CDs mostly to those of us who view club-mix CDs as a way of filling in the gaps in our singles collections, but it then goes on to feature some rather less well-known stuff ...  Read the complete review
