This CD single (or EP) by Tori Amos is a bit of a weird mix of songs. The title track Crucify is a slightly poppy song with some good vocals but isn't my favourite song she has done by a long way. The remix isn't bad, but it's not that different from the original to be honest, though I think it is possibly slightly nicer to listen to. There are 3 covers on the EP Thank You originally by Led Zeppelin, I'm not familiar with the original song but I just found this version very plain and boring and it didn't inspire me to check out the original version. There you go, I'm reviewing a pop album of a woman singing at a piano. I have to shake things up a bit every so often to artificially keep from being predictable and anyway, it's not so different from some of the more loosely-defined "metal" albums I've reviewed recently. This maxi single or mini album (whatever you want to call it) is just superb. For a start you get to hear the alternate version of Crucify, which is almost as good as the original. But as an added bonus you get to hear Tori's versions of a few classics. "Smells like teen spirit" is more brooding than Nirvana could ever hope to have reached. "Angie" is just superb & it so much better than the Rolling Stones original (I'm a little biased on that cos I hate them). But the outstanding track is "Thank You" orinally penned by Led Zep, if this doesn't move you, then you must be clinicaly dead. If you like your music with ... Read the complete review
