Advantages: Fine guitar riffs, supreme vocal style, drum beats of pure brilliance.
Disadvantages: The music will not be to everyone's taste, may be a little too heavy for some.
This was Kent's masters of metal Cubic Space Division's first album which was released upon the world through Undergroove Records on the 10th of November 2003. Cubic Space Division are an extremely talented band that produce some fine metal with awesome guitar hooks, and excellent vocals. This is a 9 track effort and clocks in at just under 51 minutes in length. Those of you that remember the brilliant band earthone9 may be aware of Cubic Space Division as the bands guitarist and vocalist Jamie Floate was formerly the earthtone9 bassist.
This is a great album from the quartet that is Cubic Space Division, it shows off some of their truly amazing music exceptionally well. I had been wondering when this band would release an album and after a year of waiting, this eagerly awaited début finally emerged and certainly did not disappoint. I had been a fan of Cubic Space Division for quite some time and when it arrived was pleased to be hearing their amazing bass lines, slamming guitar riffs, awesome drumming, and quite frankly astounding vocals. Coming from Kent, I was able to witness some of Cubic Space Divisions electrifying live shows during the early days and must say that on this album the energy and enthusiasm of the live circuit has certainly been captured here.
There are some exquisitely fine tunes on this self-titled album and one of my favourites has to be 'Bohemian Grove.' 'X-Axis' is also a great tune with a hell of a lot of bite, power and aggression. It is a really strong track and is extremely raw and I have to say that I always like to hear a nice raw sound in a band, it just makes it feel more like you are seeing the band live at a gig rather than merely listening to them on CD. I have a lot of respect for this band as they truly are exceptionally talented and have a hell of a lot of drive and ambition as a band.
Cubic Space Division have so much to offer with their awesome metal tunes. It is their Guitar riffs and bass lines which really put a smile on my face as they are delivered with such amazing style - there are definitely some really talented musicians behind these instruments. There is just so much aggression and raw anger taken out with the cracking guitar riffs that the band thrashes out, Cubic Space Division is just so strong a unit that it truly is quite unbelievable. Undergroove Records has provided us with many a fine band over the years, I think however that Cubic Space Division is definitely one of the best that the label has ever unearthed.
If you are a fan of fiery Metal with outbursts of Emotion then give this band a listen and hopefully you will enjoy the music that Cubic Space Division make as do I. This is a band who deserve to be huge, the musical talent is certainly there and Cubic Space Division should therefore be far larger a band than they are. I'd definitely recommend listening to this self-titled release, this is one début album that you certainly shan't be forgetting in a hurry.
