Curtains - Tindersticks

Tindersticks curtains is my favourite tindersticks album, but probably because it was my introduction to the band. The two previous albums are also astonishing, as is Simple Pleasures - where the band introduced their new stripped back soulful sound. Curtains, however, is very much tindersticks mark 1. The production is big and baroque. It feels like an entire orchestra is backing them up throughout the album. When you read the sleevenotes and see how long it took to record the album you almost fall out of your seat. It seems impossible. So what does it sound like?
