Advantages: tasty cover

Disadvantages: big let down!!

I bought this cos it was the clash's last album, I was a fan but thought Combat rock was the last until someone told me so I had to hear it. I looked at the cover on the way home from the shop and it looked tasty, a punk with leather jacket and some buildings. I turned the LP over to look at the back and I couldnt recognise anyone. Mick Jones the genius guitar player want there, I know Topper the drummer had been sacked during combat rock tour and after a bit I made out Paul and Joe.
I wacked it on the turn table and it was like electro punk and pop mixed. There's loads of crazy production effects going on like in the middle of a guitar solo of Dirty Punk the volume goes up and down.
The first track called Dictator is poor muically but lyrics made for good reading on the way home.
In the end there is only 3 good tracks and even those arnt really up to the clash's high standards. Dirty Punk is a fast punky song with good old cranked up guitar. We Are The Clash is a wonderfully rocking punk song with fantastic sing a-long chorus but my favorite is This Is England a slow power full punky electro pop ballard which surley should be an england world cup song or the national anthem. Very Sham69 with the football crowd chorus's but as crazy with the production trying to mix in the keyboards.
A lot of people think its clash in name only and I think you have to be a strummer fan to buy it as the clash magic is lost.
