Static Age - Misfits

Rating:
Static Age is the early work of The Misfits and an album that was originally recorded in 1977, unfortunately the band couldn t find a record label who were interested and released 4 of the tracks on a single, by the time Glenn Danzig got his own label together though the band had already recruited two new members and changed their lyrics to focus totally on their brand of horror punk! Static Age is a bit raw, the majority of songs being short bursts of fastastic (fast and fantastic like cheesy peas!) punk in a Ramones style but there are several songs featuring Glenn s later trademark Morrisonesque vocals and extremely heavy bass lines that sound like The Stranglers. ...

have to mention that it is live! So if you are looking for studio recorded album dont get this. This album has 12 tracks from the classic Misfits collection all performed live. The obvious differences to a studio version therefore is the fact that the sound quality sucks (yeah its really that bad) and also the songs are performed heavier than on other albums (i.e. imagine Glenn Danzig jumping around stage screaming his head off, well thats pretty much it). I think the best songs on the album are Astro Zombies, Horror Business, Devils Whorehouse and We are 138. We are 138 also features Henry Rollins (Black Flag). Unfortunately, there is no "i turned into a ...

Ok where to begin This is the "ressurrected" Misfits and does not contain glenn danzig on vocals but just because danzig isnt singing doesn t mean you should not buy it. the lineup of this album consists of original member jerry only on bass, doyle on guitar, dr chud on drums and michale graves on vocals. this lineup is also the same lineup which was on the 1997 ep American Psycho. Famous Monsters shows the misfits have developed their sound since the american psycho ep with their songs sounding all well rounded instead of trying to immitate the sound of the original misfits. Kong at the gates is the first song which helps the listener know what they are in for. ...
