We Started Nothing - Ting Tings:
... the current media backlash against the Ting Tings, I still love them. And it s easy to see why. This album offers straightforward blondie- inspired pop to the same standard as their contemporaries Album opener is Great DJ is a classic, the singer sings the lyrics as if they were some postmodern nursery rhyme. The riffs are simple yet sophisticated, and they control the rhythms and the layers like a masterpie... Read the full review: Good Pop music by simodewey |

Hold Your Colour - Pendulum ... are a Drum and Bass act from Australia, and this is their debut Album Hold Your Colour . This album is drum and bass for people who aren t normally into drum and bass. I received this CD as a Christmas present for Christmas 2007 and I still listen to it to this day. Pendulum are great producers and know what they are doing - EVERY song is a hit (which you can t say about their new album In Silico ). For all you techies out there, listen out for the side-chain compression used in their songs, it s almost masterful! Not only is this a technical marvel, with catchy rhythms and great mixing, but some of them are truly beautiful songs - it s just a journey from s... We Started Nothing - Ting Tings ... Ting Tings are a two piece band from Salford in the UK. Formed of Katie White and Jules De Martino, the band were sure to be compared to the most famous other two piece band around today, The White Stripes (not least because Katie shares a last name with their lead singer, Jack White). Whilst the two bands may be on a similar level in terms of potential success, the sound of the Ting Tings couldn t be more different to that of the White Stripes. The band are an electro-indie-pop collaboration, with a distinct message of female power and individuality. I first came across the band through ArtRocker, where they were given a fantastic write-up for the single "Gr... Read the full review: Great DJ by AllyPally1991 |

Lyrically and musically they stand head and shoulders above their contemporaries and this, their second album, stands out as a very individual album. The first track, ribcage kicks off with a haunting, rhythmic synth sound that sounds a bit like a cuckoo, and gradually builds into a full blown epic, with Guy Garvey singing "To pull my ribs apart and let the sun inside".. Snooks is one of the more experimental Elbow songs, built around a pulsating rythm and one of the nastiest guitar sounds ever put on record. This guita...
