When I found out the New York Dolls were making a new album in 2011 I knew I just had to get it for my boyfriend. I found myself scouring music stores and online shops, desperately attempting to get it from somewhere. It wasn't until during the holiday season I finally managed to get myself a copy and it was definitely worth waiting for. A mixture of old and new, different music genres, all complimented by David Johansen's memorable voice, as well as his contribution on the harmonica, make this album a must have. Its not only great for past New York Dolls lovers, as a new dimension is brought in with the mixture of sounds and experimentation that clearly went on, makes this Dancing Backwards in High Heels great for all music lovers. The lyrics listed inside the booklet not only make David Johansen's husky voice (which is sometimes incomprehensible if we're being honest) understandable, but it also adds a new aspect to the album; as the pictures displayed side by side with the lyrics show a truly wonderful band in an artistic and interesting way. As well as the music track, a second disk is included with 'The making of' a movie, and additional audio tracks. Extras in this brilliant compilation.
